At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, OPPO and MediaTek showcased the latest on-device AI advancements. Jason Liao, President of the OPPO Research Institute, highlighted their deep collaboration to accelerate AI deployment on smartphones.
Advancing On-Device AI: From Chip to Experience
OPPO’s AI strategy focuses on “New Computing, New Perception, and New Ecosystem”. At its core is on-device compute, which enables low-latency, private, and personalized AI experiences. Liao said, On-device Compute is a cornerstone of OPPO’s AI strategy. It makes AI real-time and integrated into daily use.”
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, OPPO’s AI Translate and AI Portrait Glow now match cloud-level performance. These features will roll out on the OPPO Find X9 series with the ColorOS 16 update.
AI Translate works fully on the device, offering 15% more accurate translations than conventional methods. It runs without internet, ensuring reliable translations even in low-signal areas.
AI Portrait Glow improves photos in dim or backlit conditions. It analyzes and reconstructs lighting for natural results without network dependency.

Omni Model: The Future of Multi-Modal On-Device AI
OPPO and MediaTek also previewed Omni, the industry’s first full-modal on-device AI model. Supporting voice, video, and text inputs, Omni enables live scene understanding and interactive Q&A directly on smartphones. This breakthrough strengthens on-device AI’s ability to perceive and interact with the physical world, laying the foundation for more proactive and intuitive human-computer interaction.

Ecosystem Innovation and Cross-Platform Connectivity
At the MediaTek booth, attendees experienced the Find X9 Pro’s AI features alongside its telephoto imaging with the OPPO Hasselblad Teleconverter. The Reno15 Pro showcased creative AI tools, including AI Motion Photo Eraser, AI Motion Photo Popout, and AI Flash Photography, demonstrating OPPO’s leadership in AI-powered mobile photography.

Additionally, OPPO will bring Android™ Quick Share to the Find X9 series, enabling seamless and secure file transfers across OPPO smartphones, iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices without third-party apps. This feature, developed in collaboration with MediaTek and Google, will begin rolling out in March 2026.
Recognition and Future Outlook
The OPPO Find X9 Pro was shortlisted for the “Best Smartphone” award at the GLOMO Awards, highlighting its innovation in performance, imaging, and AI integration.
