To mark Lunar New Year 2026, Marshall releases special-edition versions of the Emberton III speaker featuring bespoke Year of the Horse designs by visionary Chinese artist FCCK.
For the fourth year in a row, Marshall has collaborated with a Chinese artist to ring in the Lunar New Year. This time with FCCK, a designer, illustrator, and artist based in Chengdu. With every one of his designs, FCCK charges ahead into new creative territory. Blending illustrations, graphic patterns and typography, he breaks free from the norm to create a universe that is distinctly his. Marshall defined the sound of rock ‘n’ roll and has always believed in doing things your own way. The wild and free spirit of the horse symbolises this same creative outlook.
Consequently, drawing inspiration from the Chinese phrase “脱缰野马” (literally translating to “a wild horse that has thrown off its reins”), each design is a striking symbol of unbridled energy and a free-spirited nature, the theme for this edition of Lunar New Year.
“’Rational chaos’ is how I interpret the word unbridled. I stepped out of my comfort zone by using a mix of textures such as clay, wood carving, embroidery, paper cutting alongside graffiti, abstraction, and pop art to create different iterations of horses. The final visual expression best expresses the meaning of unbridled: like a horse running across the grasslands, spontaneous and free.” says FCCK.
This dynamic visual approach defines two special edition releases across the Studio 900 Combo amplifier and the Emberton III speaker to power the 2026 festivities. For the first time, Marshall adds a water transfer print, or hydra print, to the matte smooth silicone sleeve of the Emberton III.
“This year, we used a hand-applied water transfer print, where the design floats freely on the water’s surface before being wrapped around the object. Due to the movement of the water and the dipping process, the pattern can shift and stretch in unexpected ways. Though subtle, this makes every Emberton III a unique piece,” adds Susanne Bryngelsson, Senior Industrial Designer at Marshall Group.
Fans of the Studio 900 can enjoy the same powerful crunch, clarity, and distinctive tone. This compact amplifier delivers the iconic Marshall 90s sound for home and studio use. Furthermore, it features striking Year of the Horse designs for a bold visual upgrade.
Digits Trading Corp. brings the special edition Emberton III to the Philippines as Marshall’s exclusive distributor. It will be available exclusively at Satchmi, SM Megamall starting January 31, 2025. Limited to just 70 units, this release is a must-have for Marshall fans.
